The Leaping Dog Story

Back in 2014, Leaping Dog Art Studios started with a simple vision: to be a dedicated creative space for all; all ages and all levels. While Leaping Dog originally opened only offering art classes for kids, it quickly became apparent that adults wanted a creative space too! In 2018, when Leaping Dog’s offerings expanded to include classes in ceramics, it quickly took over the studio and helped to propel Leaping Dog to be the premier destination for both serious and aspiring ceramic artists. On any given day, you will witness a lively community engaged in a fully equipped studio with eight electric wheels, slab roller and two kilns. It’s an inspiring environment where instruction is always personalized and every effort is made to support student personal and creative growth.

The inspiration behind the Leaping Dog name came from owner Jen’s beloved yellow lab, Liza Jane, who perfectly embodied the playful, happy spirit she wanted the studio to capture. While the earliest days were fueled by an understanding of how children naturally create through a combined sense of curiosity, play and connection, it was evident that older kids and adults (young and senior) equally benefit from this same sense of curiosity, play and connection.
